Little House on the Prairie films exist! While Little House on the Prairie may have ended in 1983 after nine seasons, fans were greeted with a nice surprise at the end of 1983 when the first of the three Little House movie specials was released for TV. Unofficially titled the tenth season, here is everything you need to know about the Little House on the Prairie movie specials! 

Hit Western drama Little House on the Prairie ran for nine seasons from 1974 to 1983 and left fans with over 200 episodes of drama! Audiences were disappointed when the series ended, and sad to see their favorite characters including "Charles", "Caroline", "Mary", "Laura", and "Carrie" go.

Fans would not be left by the "Ingalls" for long, however, and at the end of 1983 producers would announce the airing of three made for TV film specials! Released over the course of three months, fans would get that final goodbye they had been hoping for! 

Little House: Look Back to Yesterday

On December 12, 1983, the first of the three movie specials, Little House: Look Back to Yesterday would be released on NBC. Directed by Victor French aka "Isaiah Edwards", "Charles" and "Albert" embark on a road trip. 

In what would be the last episode for "Albert" played by Matthew Labyorteaux, we learn that "Albert" is suffering from leukemia. While a sad ending for "Albert", fans were given an ending with closure.

The next movie special would air only a week after the first and would also be directed by Victor French. Audiences were given one last Christmas with the cast, albeit in true Little House on the Prairie fashion, a chaotic one! 

With a kidnapping, and a Scrooge-like Christmas, audiences were given the best Christmas present of the year with Little House: Bless All the Dear Children

The last of the movie specials would wait to build up the suspense and excitement before finally being released in February of 1984. This time directed by Michael Landon and finishing 9th out of 59 programs of its week, Little House: The Last Farewell would make the long wait worth it! 

"Charles" and "Caroline" make one final trip back to Walnut Grove and are even able to stay once again in the Little House. However, there is a crisis building as we find out that the town is set to be taken over by a land development tycoon! The stakes have never been higher in the final Little House film and it is truly the farewell fans were dying for!
