'NCIS: L.A.': "Deeks'" Job In Danger - Does He Have To Leave The Show?
Major changes could be coming soon to NCIS: L.A. as police reforms in the United States are also having an impact on the series and could lead to "Deeks" losing his job soon. Here's what we know...
There have recently been some police reforms in the U.S. which now seem to now be having an impact on the crime series NCIS: L.A. While the majority of the team is safe from any changes because NCIS does not belong to the normal police force, "Marty Deeks" as an LAPD liaison, is in danger.
NCIS: L.A. - "Deeks" has to worry about his job
Since "Deeks" is employed by the police in Los Angeles, the reforms have taken hold and suddenly he is faced with a difficult situation. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told Cinemablend: "We’re going to find out that Deeks’ job as an LAPD liaison, because of all the police reform, may be in jeopardy."
The showrunner does not want to reveal exactly what that means, however, American broadcaster CBS hired advisors before the twelfth season to help guide the NCIS franchise during these important times. This came after U.S. police came under heavy criticism following the death of George Floyd.
So "Deeks" may have to look for another job at NCIS: L.A. soon. Under certain circumstances, however, there could also be a simple solution: As Cinemablend writes, the detective could be employed by NCIS and continue to work for the team. "Being forced out of the LAPD could theoretically result in the long-awaited transition of Detective Deeks into NCIS Agent Deeks, which would allow the show to deliver a big change without actually shaking up the status quo all that much," they wrote.
What actually happens to Eric Christian Olsen's character, who recently announced baby news, viewers will probably only find out in November, when the new season premieres.
