Netflix will soon be haunted by memories of "Rebecca" once more.

Netflix's new Rebecca movie

Netflix's Rebecca will land on the streamer on Oct. 21. Armie Hammer and Lily James portray the leads in the film update on the classic story. James plays "Mrs. de Winter," the newlywed tormented by the lasting presence and memories of her husband's deceased first wife, "Rebecca."

British director Ben Wheatley helmed the new Rebecca film. Some of his best-known titles include horror genre works Kill List and A Field in England, as well as Free Fire and Sightseers.

Rebecca remake on Netflix has release date in October

Netflix provides the following synopsis of the film, which it describes as a "mesmerising and gorgeously rendered psychological thriller."

"After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), a newly married young woman (Lily James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast.

"Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley's sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas)."

We're about two-and-a-half months away from Netflix's Rebecca, so there will no doubt be a trailer sometime before the Oct. 21 release date. Psychological thriller fans, or those interested in an update on a Hitchcock classic, will want to keep this one in mind moving forward!
