The 1988 Christmas movie Scrooged, a modern adaption of the Charles Dickens Novel "A Christmas Carol", has by now become a favorite amongst families all across the world. Especially during the holiday season Scrooged is an absolute hit. Bill Murray plays the role of "Frank Cross", an unbelieving, selfish TV executive who is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve, each trying to teach him a different lesson.
The brutal TV producer "Frank Cross'" only interests are money and power, and this he clearly shows off by the lack of concern for his family and friends. On Christmas Eve, his deceased boss "Lew Hayward" visits him in his dreams and, with the help of three Christmas spirits, his former boss tries to make him see the wrong turn he took.
Bill Murray (68) is considered one of Hollywood´s A-List actor, due to his dry humor which gives him the ability to play a wide variety of different roles. Murray still makes headlines even today with one of his most recent movies being the remake of the cult classic Ghostbusters. He has been married twice and has six kids altogether.
"Frank's" ex-girlfriend "Claire" (Karen Allen) is not only an eye-catcher, she is also good-hearted and passionately enjoys helping people in need. As previously mentioned, she was in a relationship with "Cross" but ended the relationship after realizing how greedy and power hungry her partner had become.
It's still easy to recognize Kary Allen's beautiful smile on the red carpet. Allen has had a very long and successful career in show business. She played the role of "Marion Ravenwood" in the hit movie Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark back in 1981 and naturally returned to the role 27 years later in Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. On top of that, she currently works as a Yoga instructor and owns her own textile company.
"The Ghost of Christmas Past", portrayed by David Johansen in form of a crazy taxi driver, is the first spirit to visit "Cross" in his dreams. He takes him on a ride down memory lane showing him his past. One scene, in particular, depicts "Frank" receiving 5 pounds of veal, instead of the model train he wanted for Christmas.
David Johanson is not only an actor, but above all he is a musician. David Johansen is the singer of the band 'New York Dolls' and goes by the pseudonym Buster Poindexter. Although he could have landed a number of other roles after his success in "Scrooged", he decided to concentrate on his music. He has since then released 16 studio albums.
"Frank's" second supernatural visit is from "The Ghost of Christmas Present", played by Carol Kane. The fairy looks harmless, dressed straight out of a fairy tale, but don't let her looks deceive you. During her scene, she torments the executive with her most famous quote being: "The truth is painful Frank!"
Carol Kane still exudes her charm. After Scrooged, she appeared in many films and was even on the Broadway stage. Her role in the series Gotham is just one example of many, therefore.
The tough businessman mistreats his poor secretary "Grace Cooley" (Alfre Woodard) throughout the movie. She is underpaid, overworked and is yelled at regularly by her boss. "Frank" shows no interest in the single mother's private life whatsoever.
The beautiful actress is now in her sixties and doesn't seem to have aged a day since Scrooged had been produced in 1988. You may even recognize her as "Betty Applewhite" from the hit series Desperate Housewives. Her love life is just as great as her career, being happily married and having two adopted children.
