Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - New details emerge

In The Rise of Skywalker movie, "Rey" is referenced vaguely as the granddaughter of "Emperor Palpatine," the iconic Star Wars villain portrayed by Ian McDiarmid. There had been speculation since Star Wars: The Force Awakens that "Rey's" parentage could include figures such as "Luke Skywalker."

But the new Rise of Skywalker novel confirms that "Palpatine" is her grandfather - and father? The book reportedly has a clone of "Palpatine" as the father of "Rey," which is why she's called his granddaughter in the film.
