Netflix's The Crown will end after season five, confirmed its creator and writer Peter Morgan. Exciting news is that the fabulous Imelda Staunton will play the final Queen Elizabeth, replacing the very talented Olivia Colman.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to confirm Imelda Staunton as Her Majesty the Queen for the fifth and final season, taking The Crown into the 21st century. Imelda is an astonishing talent and will be a fantastic successor to Claire Foy and Olivia Colman."

The Crown has been quite successful in the past years

The Crown has been watched by more than 70 million fans worldwide, who actually expected a sixth season. However, it seems that Morgan decided it's time to stop. Netflix reported that 21 million households decided to start watching the new season of the show in its first month, and up to 40% from season 2.
