The Facts of Life (1979-1985) was not only a great show, but it also influenced some many young women at the time in a more than positive way. The show was, in fact, a spin-off series of the popular TV show Different Strokes. The plot mainly revolved around the mischievous adventures of a group of female students, who lived under same roof with parental figure "Edna Garrett". Not only did the actors grow throughout the 9 seasons of the show, they continued to grow even after the series. Let's have a look at they're doing today.
"Andy Moffet" is the prepubescent young boy who helped the girls with their coming-of-age issues. He was adopted into the show by "Mrs. Garett's" replacement, "Beverly Ann Stickle".
Mackenzie Astin (45) continued to make guest appearences on Lost, House, Psych, Grey's Anatomy and NCIS. His most recent role was actually a reocurring role in the series The Magicians from 2016 until 2017.
"Blaire Warner" was portrayed as the not-so-lovable spoiled private school student at the beginning of the show. She is the oldest of the group of girls and eventually became one of the most popular characters on the show!
Lisa Whelchel (54) is mostly remembered for her role in The Facts of Life playing the role of "Blair Warner". Afterwards she starred in numerous TV movies such as The Facts of Life Go to Paris, Back to Next Saturday, The Facts of Life Reunion and many more movies related to her role as Blaire Warner. Whelchel also eventually dove in to the music industry producing her Christian Pop album All Because of You in 1984. In addition to her music, she speaks regularly at churches and conferences and has written ten books on several different topics.
"Edna Garrett" was the warm, loving housemother any teenager would love to have! She always served as a helping hand to the girls.
Charlotte Rae (91) still looks as good as ever! After she left the show at the beginning of the 8th season, Rae moved on to star in itsy Bitsy Spider, 101 Dalmatians: The Series, as well as guest starring in series like E.R., Life, Pretty Little Liars and The King of Queens. Her most recent project has been in a documentary called Broadway: The Golden Age in 2018. She has survived pancreatic cancer before, but unfortunately has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer.
"Beverly Ann Stickle" was "Edna Garrett's" divorced sister. She was first seen in 1986 after the character, "Mrs. Garrett" moved to Africa to serve the Peace Corps. She took over the role of guardian for the girls.
Clorin Leachman (91) had a fairly short lived role in The Facts of Life playing the role of "Beverly Ann Stickle". Afterwards, she appeared in shows like The Beverly Hillbillies, Malcolm in the Middle and Dancing with the Stars.
"Natalie Green" was the fun-loving, slightly insecure little girl in The Facts of Life. Not only was "Natalie" one of the more beloved characters on the show, she also conveyed a positive body image, which helped many young teens at the time.
Since the end of final season of The Facts of Life, Mindy Cohn (51) has starred in mutliple show including Charles in Charge, 21 Jump Street, and the WB Comedy The Help. In addition to her minor roles in various TV shows, she is also known for playing the role of "Thelma" in the Scooby-Doo Franchise. Cohn is currently working on a feature film to be released in 2018, called "Hollywood Dirt".
"Dorothy Ramsey", also known as "Tootie", was the baby of the show. Her trademark, which she was never able to get rid of, were the roller skates she used throughout the entire first season of the series.
After the TV show ended abruptly in 1988, Kim Fields (48) took some time away from acting to focus on school at Pepperdine University. During her time at the University, she occasionally dabbled in the music industry performing with a her rap and R&B group "Impromp". After University, she moved on to become a TV director and has hence directed shows like Kenan & Kel, Tyler Perry's House of Payne, and Let's Stay Together. Fields was last seen on Dancing With The Stars, where she and her partner won 8th place.
"Jo Polniaczek" was one character added in the second season of the show. She was most known for her bad girl image which brought a lot of excitement to the cast of The Facts of Life.
Since The Facts of Life, Nancy McKeon (51) has appeared in a number of different shows such as Without a Trace and Sonny With A Chance. She was last seen in the TV movie Love Begins back in 2011.
