The Gold Raspberry Award is a mock award that celebrates the worst in film of any given year. The award ceremony usually takes place the night before the Oscars. The category "Worst Movie" was created in 1981. We've done some research and put together a list of some of the movies that have had the dishonor of being awarded a Golden Raspberry.
Halle Berry recieved the infamous award for her performance in the movie "Catwoman" back in 2005, even though she had already won an Oscar three years prior for her role in the film "Monster's Ball". The 2005 disaster was also shamed as the worst movie of that year by most critics. Nevertheless, Halle Berry accepted the award with a sense of humor and even showed up at the award ceremony.
According to IMDb, the comedy "Saving Christmas" was one of the worst movies of all time. The jury concurred and therefore the movie was awarded an amazing 4 Golden Raspberry awards back in 2015.
The 2002 comedy "Freddy Got Fingered" starring Tom Green was named and shamed as one of the worst movies of that year. Both the director and Green were awarded a Golden Raspberry.
"I Know Who Killed Me" (2008), starring Lindsay Lohan, broke records, but not in a good way. The film's producers took home a whopping 8 Golden Raspberries. This record was only recently broken...
The record was only broken when the film "Jack and Jill", which starred Adam Sandler in both leading roles, was awarded ten Golden Raspberrys!
The episode-orientated comedy "Movie 43", in which there were a confusing 12 different plot lines, was given downright terrible reviews by critics even though several Hollywood A-listers starred in it. The movie took home 3 Golden Raspberries in 2014.
Madonna is definately not the most talented of actresses. She has recieved 5 Golden Raspberries in total. Her acting in the 2003 movie "Swept Away" only cemented the fact that Madonna is one of the worst actresses of all time.
Fans probably could have done without a "Basic Instinct" sequel. The movie recieved 4 Golden Raspberries all together. Definitely a bad move on the director's part!
When "The Last Airbender" was released, the Golden Raspberry jury created a new category called "The Worst Use of 3D Technology" just to do the disaster film justice!
"The Love Guru" was nominated seven times for the infamous award, but only won three Golden Raspberrys in the end.
It can be stated, without a shadow of a doubt, that the film adaption of "Battefield Earth" is one of the worst movies of all time. Just like the previous record holder, this movie received a whopping 8 Golden Raspberry awards and was even given the dubious title of "Worst Movie of the Decade".
The western action comedy "Wild Wild West", starring Will Smith, Salma Hayek and Kevin Kline, was awarded a Golden Raspberry in the category "Worst Movie of the Year" back in 2000.
Ironically, Michael Bay's "Transformers" was nominated for both a Razzie and an Oscar. Although the movie didn't receive an Oscar for "Best Sound Mixing" or "Best Sound Editing", it did receive three Razzies for "Worst Picture", "Worst Screenplay", and "Worst Director".
The former dream couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck recieved 6 Razzies for their roles in the comedy "Gigli" (2004). Both actors were awarded "Worst Actor" for their performances in the flick.
