Aimee Osbourne has offered new comments on why she never appeared on her family's hit reality TV series, The Osbournes. The eldest daughter of Ozzy and Sharon, Aimee was notably absent on the program, which aired between 2002 and 2005 on MTV. Osbourne, who's now 36 years old, was in her late teens when the show first aired. Read on for her new explanation.

Aimee Osbourne is getting candid about her choice to not appear on The Osbournes in the early 2000s.

The eldest daughter and middle child of Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne was the only family member who opted against appearing before the cameras in the Osbourne home. Previously, Aimee expressed concern about being "typecast" had she starred on the popular reality program, but she's now revealed the more personal reason behind her decision.

On Aug. 4, Osbourne joined New York radio station Q104.3 to discuss her new single, "Shared Something with the Night." During the chat, the musician touched on The Osbournes and why, as a late teenager, she chose to leave the reality TV gig to her siblings and parents.

"To me, I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and I always really valued my privacy within that family," she explained.

"For me personally, for who I am, as far as morally, and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager — it didn't really line up with what I saw my future as."

"It definitely worked great for the rest of my family. But for me and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically," she concluded.

The Osbournes did turn out to be a hit and remains one of the earliest examples of reality TV as we now know it. Aimee did "appear" in some episodes of her family's show, but her face was blurred and she didn't receive credits on the program.

Aimee is now 36 years old and releases music under the name ARO. While fans still await her first full-length debut, she released "Shared Something with the Night," her first single in several years, last week.

Aimee's music, sometimes classified as synthpop or trip-hop, does differ from that of her heavy-metal father, Ozzy Osbourne, who's said to have new music plans of his own as his health improves.
